Our Group's Mandate
Cyber-Sense is a Concordia University Undergraduate Student Union (CSU) club.
We at Cyber-Sense want to increase the academic and employment potential, and quality of life for Concordia students and communities in need by providing computer repair services, education on data security and effective software and hardware problem solving skills, and by refurbishing computers marked for disposal to give to students and those in need, all of which will be done with no charges or fees.
The nature of Cyber-Sense is to help Concordia students save money from expensive computer repairs and to help them gain autonomous information technology (I.T.) skills from general usage to advanced problem solving. We want to improve the quality of the natural environment through our own refurbishing and recycling efforts and by teaching others how to reuse, repair, and finally recycle end-of-life computers. We hope to use Concordia campus I.T. equipment marked for disposal, which would also assist the university by reducing the volume of waste material.
The Concordia community will be greatly benefited by having a free computer repair and education platform which will save participants' money, and increase their confidence and self-empowerment. Students will learn effective and time-saving computer techniques which will improve their studies and academic potential, and protect their personal information and finances. The outreach program to communities in need will provide positive publicity for Concordia, and if our goal of refurbishing Concordia's end-of-life computers is implemented we will assist the university with waste disposal.
Cyber-Sense is unique in regards to other groups on campus because we will be the only club providing these I.T. instructional, repair, and recycling services, all for free!
